We are well-aware of how close your and Martha’s extended families are and understand how much a loss like this is felt. Lori has sent you a card and a mass remembrance for your mother in law. We have had her included in eternal daily prayers. If there is any way I can be of assistance or support to you, please let me know. I look forward to seeing you when things settle down. Sincerely, Neil.

Derek and Martha, So very sorry for your loss. As I read this note I reflected on my own Mom and teared up knowing how much influence and love a Mom has on her family. Your Mom must have been a great lady and role model because the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Know this is going to be a very difficult period for you so if you need anything or just want to talk, Jenny and I are here for you. Your Mom and family in our prayers. Jack

Derek, What a wonderful summary of your mother-in-law’s life. I can picture her in my head. It’s quite a loss for you and your family and Lucy’s friends. And at such a young age. Take care of yourself and everyone else. This time is extremely important in the grieving process. When we lost my mother-in-law, I used to see her on the street all of the time, the result of longing to see our loved one again. Jim and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your clan. Take special care over the coming days and gather those you love close. They will help to make this transition bearable. Marian

Andres posted on 3/20/19

This past Sunday night, my grandmother passed away unexpectedly. In the first decade of my life, she was a key fixture. She helped raise me, would watch and care for me, and provided me with all the love and affection I could ever have asked for. After we moved to Georgia, I saw her less and less, but the love was no less unconditional. For the past couple of years, she was difficult to communicate with, which caused our relationship to drift. For this, I'm disappointed. I'm disappointed that I didn't ask more questions; that I didn't take the time to learn more of her stories, but I don't want to dwell on what I can't help now. Her obituary describes her as "the consummate hostess." I can't think of a more accurate way to describe her. She went to any lengths for those she loved, putting them and their needs before her own comfort. I worry that she did this to a point wherein she didn't have energy left afterwards to spend on herself, but I know that caring for others brought her immeasurable joy. For those memories of the family gatherings at her home, I am eternally and humbly grateful. I'm so glad that my grandfather cared for her so much and so deeply--that he gave so much of himself to keep her happy and comfortable as her health was spotty these past few years. I can't wait to see him this weekend and tell him so. I'd love to believe she's watching over me from somewhere, but I'm of the belief that you only get one shot at life, and I know that she had a fantastic one. I'm taking solace in that. Her days and nights were full of loved ones and family; music saturated every corner of her home, and the smells that came from the kitchen were the stuff of legend. Those days are far away now, but they're playing in my head in brilliant technicolor now. I'm going to miss that. I'll miss her VERY distinct laugh. I'll miss being called "Munchie." I'll miss opening up my Facebook Messenger to 12 gifs and 400 emojis. I'll miss you, Grandma. I'm glad you lived so well.
