Sandra K. Smith

Sandra “Sandy” K. Smith (Stratmeyer), 81, passed away, Tuesday, January 11, 2022, in her home surrounded by family.

Sandra Kay Stratmeyer was born on May 30, 1940, in Lennox, SD, to Hildred “Hillie” and Edna (Miller) Stratmeyer. She grew up outside of Lennox/Tea with her two siblings, Robert and Linda, where they spent time at their father’s station. She attended rural school and was a graduate of Lennox High School. She continued her education at Augustana College where she went on to become a school teacher.

March 2, 1962, in Rapid City, SD, Sandra was married to Jimmie E. Smith. Following their marriage they lived in many states, but ultimately settled in Florida.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Smith; parents, Hildred and Edna Stratmeyer; brother, Robert Stratmeyer; and brother-in-law, Thomas Russell.

Grateful for having shared her life are her son, Christopher Smith and his wife Amy of Salem, OR; daughter, Christina Smith of New Port Richey, FL; granddaughters,  Cassandra and Sierra; step-grandchildren, Kristie and Tyson; sister, Linda Russell of Arlington, TX; sister-in-law, Marilyn Stratmeyer; nieces and nephews, Chad, Steve, Ann & Bobbi , Pam, Randy; extended family and friends.

Memorial is to be held in the Spring/Summer of 2022 in Chancellor, South Dakota.
