Mary Podmore Monks

September 24, 1964 - October 13, 2018

Mary Podmore Monks, age 54, of Land O Lakes, passed away suddenly on October 13, 2018. Mary was born in New York, NY to the late Robert and Jeanne Podmore on September 24, 1964. She met her husband, John Anthony Corr Monks, as a teenager and the two were wed after graduating from high school. They would raise their family in different towns on Long Island before moving to Florida in 2000.

Mary had the hardest job of all – she was a true matriarch. She cared for the home, for the children, for her husband, for anyone who needed it. She was the best and nicest person in the whole world. She was warm and had the sweetest heart. She loved cooking, casino games, and Nintendo Wii. Christmas was her absolute favorite holiday. She’d countdown the days to Hallmark’s Christmas movie premiers, including their Christmas in July. She enjoyed the beach and spending time with her family. Above all, she adored to make you smile.

Mary is survived by her beloved husband, John; her son John Anthony and his wife Sarita; her daughters, Jaclyn Mary and Laura Ann; her six brothers; two sisters; and nine grandchildren.

A visitation will be held for Mary on Friday, October 19, 2018 from 1pm to 3pm at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home with a short service to follow.

Mary’s warmth and kind nature will be well remembered and terribly missed. Those who knew her will carry her on in their hearts forever.
