Lawrence J. Horwath, Jr, age 86, of New Port Richey, passed away November 18, 2018. He was born in Alpha, NJ to the late Lawrence J. Horwath, Sr and Margaret Polankai. Larry graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1951. He joined the Coast Guard after graduating and was honorably discharged in 1959. He was the chief engineer for Warren Hospital for over 30 years, and also served as the Mayor of Bloomsbury, NJ. Larry was Catholic by faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Elks, Eagles, and Moose lodges. He resided for many years at the Sunshine Christian Homes assisted living facility in Holday, FL.
Larry is survived by his wife of 18 years, Patricia; his step-son, Paul Twes; his sister, Frances Harps (Glen); his grandchildren, Michael and Kevin; great grandchild, Destiny; and one great great grandchild.
Visiting hours for Larry will be held on November 23, 2018 from 11am to 1pm at Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home with a service to commence at 1pm. Larry will then be laid to rest at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens.
