June Favata Ferrera passed away suddenly on December 22 at the age of 73.
A lifelong Tampa resident, she was born at St. Joseph’s Hospital on January 21, 1944, and attended Phillip Shore Elementary School, where she met her lifelong best friend – Carrie Ochoa.
While attending Jefferson High School, she eloped with her one true love – Maximo “Mike” Ferrera, Jr., whom she had first met in the 8th grade. They were married in Georgia on December 23, 1960.
The couple had two children – Joseph Daniel Ferrera and Sam Maximo Ferrera.
She was a mother, housewife, beautician, office manager and worked for Bank of America. After retiring, she spent her time helping her son Sam at his car dealership and riding ATV trails across Florida.
She is survived by her son Sam Maximo Ferrera, and Kathy Farinha, sister Joan Berry and brothers Andrew Favata and Dewitt Boyett, grandson Joseph Daniel Ferrera II, five nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends and family.
She will be interred at Woodlawn Cemetery in Tampa, along with her husband and eldest son. A Ceremony of life, with services to follow, at an announced date.
This was a life well led, defined by heart, compassion and grit.
She will be missed by all.
