Johnny Martin

August 26, 1942 - December 23, 2020

Johnny Martin, 78, was born on August 26, 1942. He answered the call from his heavenly father on December 23, 2020. He was a loving husband, a caring brother, a gracious and devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a true friend to all he met, and was regarded as a kind and gentle soul.

Johnny was born in Shellman, Georgia, and was the oldest son of Grady Martin and Ruth Murray. After the passing of both parents, he subsequently moved to Jacksonville, Florida, where he graduated from Northwestern High school (Class of 1961) and later from the University of North Florida with a degree in Business.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Cassandra E. Martin. Together they had three wonderful children. He was employed by the Duval County School Board as a teacher. He enjoyed watching sports, especially that of his favorite team, the Florida Gators. With hearts grateful for his life and saddened by his passing, he leaves to cherish his love and memories: his son Richard (Paula); daughters Kelly (Ken) and Darrylyn (Pradeep); grandchildren Kishma, Ashley, Kaya, Erica, Jada and Benjamin; great grandchildren, Justise, Londyn , Cassius and King; his youngest brother Burke Martin, his cousin Joyce Fisher, his uncle June and other family members.
Johnny was predeceased by his sister Georgia McQueen (Jerry), his brother Benny Martin (Bernice), his uncle and Bill and aunt Rosa Williams, and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and treasured friends.
