Jane Eleanor Ross (McCarthy), passed away in Trinity, FL, on April 20, 2022, at age 95. Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania to Charles and Julia McCarthy, she later moved to Columbus, Ohio. There she met her husband, Carl Ross, and shared 75 years of love, laughter, and life, until his recent passing.
Jane was a full-time and loving mom of five children for many years and a proud Girl Scout leader, before entering nursing school in her early 40’s. Becoming a nurse was her aspiration and she was able to fulfill this dream of caring for others until retirement. Jane was an avid reader, and enjoyed traveling, volunteering, hosting dinner parties, playing cards with friends, and meeting new ones.
Jane is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Crawford (Thomas), Maureen Morelli (Frank), and April (M.C.) Paul (Jeff) and son, Michael Ross (Karen). Jane was preceded in death by her spouse, Carl, and son Joseph Ross (Barbara).
She was greatly loved by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her dear friends.

Both Jane and Carl were awesome volunteers at Inniswood Metro Gardens for several years during my tenure as Volunteer Coordinator. They were so fun and pleasant - always smiling, willing to do whatever we needed. Both seemed to enjoy working with our childrens’ programming and were naturals with the kids. I was fortunate to be invited to their lovely home for lunch a few times where the hours and conversation flowed freely. When I moved into our 1848 home, Jane gifted me an antique pair of carding tools. She said they fit my house’s age more than hers. They are still prominently displayed on a living room shelf and every time I dust, I remember Jane and Carl fondly. My sincere condolences on your loss, but what well-lived lives they both led.
