Emily—You left us so abruptly. Without prelude. And isn’t that just like you with your quiet strength. I will think of you always and miss you dearly. When I see the night-blooming cereus that we admired over the years on our lake walks with Mack, I will think of you. And when I see a sunflower, I will think of you beside me dropping a sunflower into our Mack’s grave. When I drink a cup of black tea, I will think of the many cups we shared. And when I look at my own Fiesta ware, I will be reminded of you and yours. We shared a love of dishes and both had too many. I thank you for the gift of your friendship, which I never imagined would so abruptly end. I miss you and take with me the lessons I learned from you. In gratitude and sorrow and with much love—Wendy

I am so very sorry for the loss of Emily to Merrill, her family and all the people that loved her. Emily was a lovely, intelligent, compassionate and kind person. I won't forget our fun times and talks over dinner or tea in Eastport, Maine where I got to know Emily. You went far too soon my friend and I will miss you and always remember you and the good times we had. Love, Mary

Emily was not only my loving and kind cousin, she was one of the most intelligent and learned people I have ever known. I'll miss the challenging Scrabble games we played and the fun times we enjoyed when she visited me in South Carolina. My heart is broken that this special friend and cousin has left us so soon.
