Edward T. Close, Jr, age 82, of Port Richey, passed away peacefully January 17, 2022. Ed was born December 23, 1939, in Queens, NY, to Edward and Cecelia Close. He worked many years for Entemann’s bakery, retiring as a foreman. He and his wife, Ann, came to Florida in 2007 from Bayshore, NY.

Ed was a loving, hardworking man who provided well for his family. He was warm, protective, and loyal. Ed had quite the sweet tooth, especially for ice cream. He enjoyed sports; the Yankees were his favorite team. He will be fondly remembered by his friends and family.

Ed is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Ann Close; son, Edward “Ted” Close III; daughter, Colleenann Velez (Patrick); brothers, Larry Close and John Close; sisters, Marguerite Aliperti and Veronica Close; and his beloved grandpup, Gizmo. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert.

Visiting hours will be held 2pm to 5pm Tuesday, February 1^st. Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas 11am Wednesday followed by burial at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens.
