Douglas Backers, 83, passed away early Monday morning at his home in Holiday Florida.
Doug was the 5th of 6 children born to Francis Margaret Trombley Backers and John Edward Backers.
He was born June 1st, 1936 in Roseville Michigan. He was a graduate of Roseville High School.
He was a carpenter and auto mechanic.
Doug moved to Florida in 1980. He married Mary Frances Harbin on January 15, 1983.
He was an avid Nascar fan. He and Mary enjoyed playing on dart leagues for many years. He loved his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, Dory Vernier, Gene Backers, Margie Gutowski, John Backers (infant), younger brother Jack Backers, his wife Mary Backers and his granddaughter Nicole Caruso.
He is survived by his son, David (Linda) Backers, daughter Lisa Backers, grandchildren Kyle Backers, Dale (Sarah) Backers, Anthony Caruso, Kati (Chuck) Fulcher, one great-grandson Chase Fulcher and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 9th at Michels and Lundquist in New Port Richey, Florida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice
