She is survived by her children – Anna Marie Sabin, Patricia Louise Mills, Billy Joe Merrell, Jr., and Connie Kay Mushett, 4 grandchildren – Tina Marie Shannon, Dionne Michelle Robinson, Nicholas John Patton and Victor Joel Latimer, Jr., and several great grandchildren, and her beloved granddog Bella.
She is also survived by her adoring twin sister Delores, and rarely was there a day gone by they didn’t connect in some way. As technology changed and cell phones were invented, this allowed them to remain so close as the years moved on and they were unable to travel.
She was born in Oologah, OK on May 28, 1933 to Walter Gordon Maddux and Ruby Margaret Rusk. She married Billie Joe Merrell on September 15, 1950. One of her favorite memories was the celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary with all of her children and families on September 15, 2000. She was married to Bill until his passing on May 10th, 2003.
She married Marion Kenneth Holeman on June 4, 2004 and they celebrated 16 years together until his passing on November 20th, 2020.
Doris was a bank teller for many years, and she and Bill began acquiring rental properties through several years which they enjoyed, almost as a hobby. This allowed them the privilege of enjoying an additional property at the lake where they enjoyed RV’ing, boating and fishing. They did a lot of RV traveling, enjoying various places across the U.S. with some of their children.
She loved her children and family unconditionally, and was always there for all of us, and she loved serving the Lord, no matter where she was … she found a place to worship.
