David R. Thompson, 59, of New Port Richey FL, passed away due to illness on October 15, 2021. He passed comfortably at home, with his wife and dog, Skipper, by his side. He was born in Fort Myers, FL and spent his adolescents in Island Heights, NJ.
David set sail on many seas throughout his lifetime and was a master captain for over 20 years. Dave worked as a charter captain at Windsong Charters for 15 years, though he often said if you love what you do, you never have to work a day in your life. He was an avid fisherman and loved to sail his boat. Dave was adored by all those who encountered him, and enjoyed spending time with his many friends. Locally, he was known as Captain Dave and the life of the party. To those closest to him, he was known as a big family man who loved to cook. He was a loving husband, dad, and grandpa.
David was preceded in death by his father Merrill Thompson and his brother, Drew Thompson.
David is survived by his wife and the love of his life, Kellee Thompson, his beloved parents Carol and Pete Tamback, brothers and sister Dennis Thompson, Douglas Thompson, and Tara Tote, daughters Katelynn Desrosiers and Brittney Desrosiers, and grandchildren, Raymond, Ellyana and Janyssa Morales.
There will be a celebration of life planned for Spring 2022. Until then, remember Captain Dave sailing out into the sunset.
