Verlie (Sis) Pickles, 75 of New Port Richey, Florida (New England Native) passed away on July 3, 2015 after a valiant fight with cancer. Amongst her many life accomplishments, she was always center stage taking on the most challenging of charities. She founded and was President for the past 18 years of the non-profit program “Treats from Home” a soldier support program. Sis was also very active in the healthcare and social services field. She was the past director of Senior Inn Transportation (COASI) in Pawtucket, RI. and an 18 year employee of Gentiva/Carecentrix of Tampa, retiring in 2006. Sis became an active member of the Red Hats organization, and loved cruising wiTh her husband and friends about the world. Sis had a strong compassion for those less fortunate. Sis always cared deeply for her family and friends, she will be sorely missed.
She was predeceased by two sons, Robert and David Cousins. She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Donald J. Pickles, her sister, Helen (Crosby) Wright and her husband Bob Wright of New Port Richey, FL. She also leaves three children, a daughter, Cherylee and her husband John Ebbing of Spring Hill, Fl. a son, Richard and his wife Noreen (Piche) Cousins of Ossipee, NH. and another son, Jon Cousins of Trinity, FL. She also leaves 9 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 4:00 – 7:00 pm with a Funeral Service at 6:30 pm at the Michels & Lundquist Funeral Home.
