Gifts & Memorial Donations

Theresa Ellen Bopp (Vernard), a recently retired banker for Wells Fargo and life-long resident of New Port Richey, Florida, passed away on her 64th birthday, Saturday, April 21st, 2018.

Theresa’s love for travel was second only to the love she had for her only son, Christopher, whom she adored beyond words.  Christopher was her most precious treasure and what she considered her greatest gift, and her love for him could (and sometimes would) move mountains to clear the way to a life that she was proud that she could help give him.  Once Christopher was out of the nest, she cherished the time exploring beaches near and far with her beloved travel companions, Andrea, Pam, Jerry, Wendy, and other family and friends.  Her passion for crafts offered countless hours of quality time and priceless memories with her sister Carolyn, and the heartfelt pieces that the two of them created together continue to bless the homes of all of her loved ones.  Truly nurturing and selfless her entire life, Theresa never hesitated in offering her help to those in need, and will forever be remembered as the most compassionate person any of us have ever had the privilege of knowing.  As a child, Theresa enjoyed riding horses on her family farm and remained an animal lover her entire life, with a special place in her heart for ‘Honey’, the sweet golden retriever that brought many happy memories to her and Christopher over the years.  Although Theresa separated from her husband George Bopp when Christopher was very young, she recognized the importance of keeping the family together, and through this selfless act, an extended family of two cherished step-brothers, a caring step-mother, and two more beloved Grandparents were welcomed into her heart, and the life she shared with Christopher, making for countless irreplaceable memories than one could not possibly attempt to recount here.  Theresa’s heart was bigger than many, her love for her family greater than any, and her warm embrace one that continues to provide warmth and comfort even after her passing.

Theresa’s obsession with the ocean and all of its wonders made for endless hours of enjoyment in life as she scoured the beaches for seashells and treasure and reveled in the beauty of the sun rising and setting over the horizon.  As we say our final goodbyes, we find comfort in knowing that the majesty of the Gulf and all of its beauty will be our beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt, and sweetest friend’s final resting place, where her ashes will be spread, and we can visit her whenever our hearts feel heavy and we need to feel the warmth of her love in the form of a summer sunset or the salty ocean breeze.

Theresa is survived by her loving son, Christopher Jacob Bopp and wife Melissa; her sister, Carolyn Schaefermeyer; her nephew Col. Norman Maloy, his wife Maria, and beautiful girls Meghan, Corinne, Samantha, and Gillian; her niece Wendy Stanley, husband Jeff, and sons Nicholas and Joshua; her sister and brother-in-law Pam and Jerry VanDoorn and daughter Amanda; her brother in-law Jim VanDoorn; her ex-husband George Bopp, wife Nikki, and sons Gregory and David; and preceded in death by her beloved brother Wayne Venard; mother Glenna Venard; father Norman Venard; mother-in-law Margaret Bopp and father-in-law George Bopp, Sr.
